In a secluded place, crossing silent woods and natural shadows, I closed my eyes and thought: What does the voice of Nature smell like?
"Imagine, the world suddenly reveals itself to you, through the woods, through the Baltic water, through the light that impetuously enters through the leaves of ancient trees. Imagine hearing the voice of the earth for the first time and forever. Last Season comes from a journey to Sweden, to a place far from the world. In those days of peace, beauty and friendship, I rediscovered for a moment that pure feeling that is our destiny: to always go deep into things, to experience them, to understand them and to rejoice in them, to venture into life. That depth is told through this perfume, which gives voice only to nature. Last Season tells of my first steps in that pristine place; it was a warm August morning, the aromatic notes tell of the arrival on the island of mosses. Everything here is submerged and like ancestral lunar presences, marine plants bind us to the water, stretched out on the dark rocks of the Baltic. And then the slow, respectful steps of us guests of this green, earthy, humid space. The sun warms the bark of the trees; animals watch from their dens us, solitary men, in the heart of nature. I have crossed all the seas to see you, crossed all the forests to speak to you, to listen to your scent, Nature. And now that I am here, I am speechless, I close my eyes and listen to your essence, in this last season."
"I saw a distant world, in the quiet of the waters and the woods. The silence was broken by the voice of the white swan, by the flight of the grey heron. There is a world where we no longer see ourselves, but only the beauty of what revolves and lives around us. We are not, but we listen to the essence of the world. That end, that boundary, I saw it here."
[Last Season was conceived, created and arranged, listening to David Darling's album Dark Wood and reading Walden, by H.D. Thoreau, during each of these phases.]
